چکیده

Spontaneous subcapital fracture (SSF) of femoral neck in pre-existent osteonecrosis head (ONFH) is a rare presentation. Only few cases have been reported so far and majority them to unilateral hip involvement. We retrospectively reviewed clinical-radiological data 10 patients (12 hips) with SSF complicating ONFH. All underwent uncemented total arthroplasty. the available publications English language based medical literature were critically results summarized. The median age presentation was 32 years (range : 24 61 years). They followed up for mean duration 25 months 12 59 months). most common risk factor corticosteroid consumption (7 out patients). except one (modified Ficat Arlet stage II) belonged advanced ONFH {stage III 3 (3 hips), IV 6 (8 hips)}. time lag 22.3 5 60 months), 13.8 days 1 day 28 days). Mean pre- operative Harris Hip Score 10.8 8 14), which improved 93 91 96) after arthroplasty when last (p<0.05). Corticosteroids induced has propensity develop SSF. This entity should find place existing classification system.

abstract we report a 71 year-old patient with intertrochanteric fracture who had been managed with dhs and her healed fracture complicated by a subcapital femoral neck fracture. a subcapital femoral neck fracture complicating a healed intertrochanteric fracture is rare but catastrophic event. such cases are managed in a hetereogenous manner, i.e. there exists a mixture of cases treated by eithe...

Segmentation of Femoral Head from CT after Femoral Neck Fracture

We present a semi-automatic method for femoral head segmentation from CT dataset based on finding an optimal path through a polar transformation of axial slices. The cost function is a combination of corticallis properties (the directional behavior of 3D gradients and their magnitude in 2D slices, where they form typical ”channels”). The volume is computed using filling and morphological operat...

Avascular necrosis of femoral head presenting as pathological subcapital neck of femur fracture: An unclassified presentation

Avascular necrosis of femoral head is not an uncommon chronic disorder of hip in adults. The patient presents to the health facility with varied range of symptoms based on the degree of collapse of the head and arthritic changes at hip. Avascular necrosis of hip presenting as subacute condition with pathological sub capital neck of femur fracture has not yet been reported. The commonly used Fic...

Posttraumatic Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head after Nine Years of Posterior Femoral Head Fracture Dislocation

Posttraumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is the most serious complication after fracture dislocation of the femoral head. The rate of this complication was reported to range from 1.7% to 40%. Although the development of posttraumatic osteonecrosis normally occurs within 2 years of injury, there are some reports of the late development ONFH. The authors encountered a case of posttr...

Trabecular bone modeling and subcapital femoral fracture.

Fragility fractures, including neck of femur fractures, result from reductions in the amount, quality and architecture of bone. The aim of this study was to compare the cancellous bone structure, and static indices of bone turnover, in female patients who had sustained fragility fracture at the femoral neck, with age-matched females without fragility fracture. Bone samples were taken from the i...
